I'll tell you right here and now that whoever says that is talking from somewhere other than their mouth (and it's certainly not from experience). That's the biggest crap you'll ever hear, and before you go any further you need to throw a few things down the proverbial pan hole.

. You will not be able to sit on your backside, waiting for cash to come to you.
. You will Not make money without hard work and smart thinking.
It's a simple concept to grasp. The internet is NOT a magical tool, answering all your financial dreams at the wave of a mouse or curser or the click of a button. it's no different from running a business in the "real world", apart from the technology that is used.
Don't get me wrong. it's helping many ordinary people earn a LOT of money. But my point is, they're not making anything by sitting around and doing nothing. They're working hard and smart. And with the right strategy, the internet is the perfect way to channel your efforts and amplify your worth.
However, the Key is to work smarter and not harder. working a few extra hours per week smartly, on a highly focused strategy could prove a lot more effective than slaving away 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the corner of a home office if you've got a real plan.
The problem I see with most people is their inability to grasp the technologies that they're dealing with. I mean, let's face it. If you're going to be working with the internet and computers all day long, you're going to have to know something about them, if only the basics. and that's where many people have failed.
Let's Get 'Techie" With It!
The biggest problem by far relates to the entrepreneur's lack of knowledge regarding computers and the Internet. After hooking up the new PC or Mac that the salesman so cleverly talked you into, you log on to the Internet for the first time in the hope of grabbing your share of the cyber stake.
Not a chance. The Internet is changing at the speed of light. New technologies are being used every day, and new technological enhancements await every home and business user in the months? and years to come.
If you want to effectively compete with the 100,000,000 websites out there now, the blunt and honest truth is that you need to be 'in the know' regarding computer and internet terminology, jargon, and 'tech speak'. If you're not, you'll get wiped out in no time, there are two ways to get out of the problem:
.1 Hire someone as your permanent technological expert $500 - $2500, and that is just the basics.
.2 learn what you need to know yourself. (years)
Unfortunately, if you're working as a sole trader on the Internet, you're required to be a 'jack of all trades' when you think you've mastered the technological side of your venture, you're only dealt with half of the issue.
The hardest part comes when putting all of this technology together to develop a business module that will actually sell online. The underlying fact to remember is that this is a business...YES, BUSINESS.
That means treating it as one.

I realize that this probably will cause a lot of uproar. I've probably scared off quite a few people too.
But I've got to be blunt with you and give you the hard-hitting truth...because it I don't then who will!
You should realize now what's ahead of you so you can avoid the bumps in the road. it's better to learn from someone who's already gone through it than reinvent the wheel and find out for yourself.
But a word of encouragement. I'd like to share with you the 'starting situation'. at the time when I first encountered Internet marketing, I had no previous business knowledge, no idea of what I was delving into, and absolutely no clue how the Internet worked or what it would become.
Business has a lot of routes sprouting off in all different directions which can lead to new skills being uncovered. if you're already ahead of the game, then you have the biggest advantage.
